Mar-A-Gaza? Please, Stop The Winning!

During his first presidential run, Donald Trump promised that when he’s president, we will have “so much winning,” more winning than we could handle. It wasn’t true then, but it has been so far in the second term. I’ve been loving the winning!
But now, with this beyond-insane policy to take over Gaza and expel the Palestinians, you know, I’ve had Too Much Winning.
President Trump declared on Tuesday that the United States should seize control of Gaza and permanently displace the entire Palestinian population of the devastated seaside enclave, one of the most brazen ideas that any American leader has advanced in years.
Hosting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel at the White House, Mr. Trump said that all two million Palestinians from Gaza should be moved to countries like Egypt and Jordan because of the devastation wrought by Israel’s campaign against Hamas after the terrorist attack of Oct. 7, 2023.
“The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too,” Mr. Trump said at a news conference Tuesday evening. “We’ll own it and be responsible” for disposing of unexploded munitions and rebuilding Gaza into a mecca for jobs and tourism. Sounding like the real estate developer he once was, Mr. Trump vowed to turn it into “the Riviera of the Middle East.”
What on earth is he thinking?! Look, I get that Hamas-run Gaza is a massive problem for the Israelis. But that is not America’s problem. Nor does America have the right to seize the land and expel anybody. And even if it did, doing so would be a terrible thing for the US, simply in terms of our national security interests. Does Trump really think that the Arab world is going to sit back and accept that?
One big reason I support this Administration is the hope that it will avoid getting America entangled in unnecessary wars. This is the mother of all unnecessary wars. Moreover, there is scarcely anything imaginable that Trump could do that would more vindicate claims that the US is the cat’s paw of Israel. I supported the Israeli war on Gaza, because after October 7, I didn’t see that Israel had any choice, not with a terror state capable and willing to carry out mass slaughter of its citizens on its border. Hamas brought all this death and destruction onto themselves and their people.
But the existence of Gaza is an Israeli problem, not an American one. It’s not our business. We have neither the right nor the interest in doing what Trump has floated here (which, it is reported, was a Jared Kushner initiative, not a Bibi Netanyahu one). I hope the pushback in Congress is instant and overwhelming. The moment any US soldiers land on the Gaza beaches and start rounding up Palestinians is the moment terrorist acts against American targets around the world explode. And for what? So Trump can build Mar-A-Gaza? Insane!
Democracy, According To Globalists
Did you know that the US Government has been funding the liberal-leaning, pro-establishment news outlet Politico? It’s true — $8.1 million. Lo, this week, following the cut-off of USAID funding, Politico couldn’t make payroll. Coincidence? Hmm.
Did you know that the second-biggest funder of the BBC — that is, the British Broadcasting Corporation — is USAID?
The money has not gone to the BBC’s news division, but to its international charity wing; it accounts for eight percent of the entity’s annual budget. But here, on that division’s website, are details about what it does. Why is the US taxpayer funding this? Because, as you will see, it’s about “democracy,” and spreading Western values having to do with sexuality, gender, and suchlike.
The US Government has been funding news organizations that propagate its own views of what news is and how it should be covered. It’s not just National Public Radio, either. But at least NPR is transparent about its government funding. Politico has not been. People who read Politico — like me — had no idea that it gets millions in government money, to report on the same government that funds it. Surprise! It’s coverage skews leftward.
Do we really want to keep funding NPR? Here is a clip of Katherine Maher, its girlboss top executive, saying that “our reverence for the truth” is a “distraction” that keeps us from “building consensus.”
There it is: she admits that the purpose of media is not to tell the truth, but to establish and defend the Narrative. This is the person leading NPR.
What Trump and his DOGE team are doing is defunding the NGOcracy, which has been used to spread progressive values worldwide and to undermine local values and norms that contradict what the globalist ruling class wants. More, please!
We are now seeing just what “democracy” means to these illiberal progressives in power. Here in Europe, the EU bureaucracy has created the European Democracy Shield. Mike Benz, the former State Department official, called this out last year:
This is exactly what happened in last year’s Romanian election. As you have seen in this space, former EU commissioner Thierry Breton said the EU did this in Romania, and will do it again in Germany if the Wrong People win the election there later this month.
Again, I can’t urge you strongly enough to watch or listen to Benz’s long interview with Joe Rogan, in which he lays it out, chapter and verse, how the globalist establishment, particularly in the US, has redefined “democracy” to suit its own interests. In short, for them, “democracy” is now not the interests and desires of individual voters, but of institutions. If the agency of the people has to be taken away from them to preserve “democracy,” well, sucks to be a voter who believes he has a say over how his country is governed.
