Lois McClatchie Miller and Billboard Chris outside jail in Brussels on Thursday

Hello all, I am writing this on Thursday night. I’m leaving very early on Friday morning for Paris, where I will be writing a magazine story about the annual Paris-to-Chartres walking pilgrimage, which concludes on Monday (Pentecost) with mass at the cathedral. Monday’s post will come to you late, because I want to share with you what I saw that day.

First, HUGE news today out of Brussels, the so-called Capital of Europe:

Here is an earlier tweet from Chris, just before the Belgian police arrested them. Please watch it for the video. In it, Lois tells about how she and Chris had been surrounded by an angry mob. A police officer told her they were breaking the law, but when challenged, he couldn’t cite the law. Lois says that it’s important to speak the truth especially when a mob threatens the speaker. Cops arrested them.

Lois is prominently featured in the Live Not By Lies film (which you can watch on Angel.com’s streaming platform here) talking about the loss of free speech in the West — especially in Europe. And now she’s been to jail for saying simply, with a billboard, “Children Cannot Consent To Puberty Blockers”. In Pride Month. Are you proud of this, LGBT activists and allies?

This just goes to show that J.D. Vance was absolutely right in his Munich speech, about the loss of free speech in Europe!

Lois McClatchie Miller, in ‘Live Not By Lies’

I was in Brussels last year for the National Conservatism conference. Local authorities kicked the event out of two separate venues before it started. They raided a third venue in the middle of the conference to shut us down, but eventually went away. I wrote about it in this space when it all happened.

All of this in the capital of Europe! When Europeans ask me if J.D. Vance “hates Europe,” I say no — what he hates is the Europe symbolized by Brussels. You might remember my writing here the other day about how my Pakistani Muslim taxi driver in Brussels told me that he and his wife lied to their kids’ school, which asked them if they supported gender ideology. They don’t, but the man told me that they know of people in their community who had their children seized by the state because they (the parents) oppose gender ideology, and think kids cannot meaningfully consent to mutilating their bodies with hormones and surgery.

Y’all, this is no joke. Many Europeans live under soft totalitarianism. This is normal here. Please, watch the Live Not By Lies movie, read the book. Make yourself aware, and make yourself aware for what it takes to stand up to this tyranny. Lois McClatchie Miller and Billboard Chris are on the front lines, and today, they paid a price. As Lois says in the tweet video I linked to above, she asked the Brussels cop if they would be coming after them if they were protesting Gaza or climate change. He just shrugged.

I was just in Brussels participating in a conference at the European Parliament hosted by ADF International, about the crushing of free speech in Europe via the Digital Services Act. Here are ADF International director Paul Coleman and I talking to MEP Stepan Bartulica (who, as a boy, met the great and prophetic Father Tomislav Kolakovic) about the issues:

Please consider supporting Billboard Chris’s campaign financially. And please consider donating to ADF International, which is always there to defend people like this in court, outside of the US — where the need is very great.
