Rod, would you be interested in speaking at the Grotto in Cullman? To be honest, this would be a first for my location and might be to small a venue for you. Would not hurt my feelings if you had not interest. Just thought I would throw it out there. This is Roger Steele. We went to Mt Athos together with Fr Gregory
I forwarded your message to our Associate Vicar, I’ll let you know. We likely don’t have the budget, though, even if you are willing to come to NE Ohio.
Rod, we spoke briefly at last year's Touchstone conference. I write occasionally for Touchstone and have a theology and apologetics' ministry based in Southern California. I am currently writing a book for Wipf & Stock on the rise of Neopaganism. Would you be available for a podcast interview with us? I would like to discuss the idea of disenchantment and reenchantment with you.
I wonder if Deacon Roberts can find a way for you to come to Martin Saints, where my son is a senior. (I work for Bishop Julian Dobbs and met you at our synod a couple of years ago and told you stories about my Crazy Louisiana Relatives.)
I have been preaching on our need for beauty, etc. in the spirit of Living in Wonder. I came across your work via Larry Chapp, who is in my neighborhood (proverbially). March may be too short notice, but if you are ever up in Eastern PA, I'd love to help make arrangements for a presentation in the Diocese of Allentown.
I would love to hear you speak, but I am certain my church could not accommodate a speaking event, nor be able to financially compensate, as we do not have the physical space to accommodate (we are busting at the seems of our building), and are currently in the midst of a Capital Campaign for our new church and parish complex. Truly, the best kind of dilemma, and blessing!
Additionally, with narrow window of time, I’m certain you won’t be anywhere near Columbus, OH, but if you are it would wonderful to hear you speak! Please do update your speaking locations once you know the locations, dates, etc.
Rod, one of the elders from my church works for the Family Research Council in Washington DC. My church is in Northern Virginia. Our teaching Pastor seems to be well connected to church leaders in the DMV area. He asked me last week if I had read Living in Wonder. We (our church) had a Sunday school session on Live Not by Lies when it came out in 2020. I can send more details if this would be helpful.
If you're going to stay put in the US for a while, consider the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area- we've got some wonderful Orthodox parishes and monasteries out here!
He is the most beloved Christian leader of my life. He led our student group when I was a grad student at Arizona State University, age 26. He went away after about a year with us to seminary to become an Episcopal priest. Episcopal priest are forbidden to return to their home diocese. I've never forgotten what he was like, and what he taught us about God and the Christian life. I've long believed what he says about Orthodoxy. I miss him.
I had an odd dream about Fr. John once. In Norway at the tie,I dreamed I was sitting in a group with him and some of the others from our grad student group, conversing. Strangest thing - the next day I got a facebook message DM fro a woman I'd had no contact with since our school days to say she and others had visited with Fr. John that night. So there is a connection, still. She told Fr. John and he said to thank Linda for her visit with us in spirit. - - Also, I found some of his talks on YouTube. I listened last night and it was like weights lifted within while he was speaking
If you see Fr. John, tell him Linda Arnold remembers him with deep love and respect, and the spiritual gap left in her when he was rigjtly called away has never quite been filled. Maybe even tell him that the first time met Rod Dreher, I heard these words coming out of my mouth (it is easy to tell Rod what you really think - though I had not had this thought in quite these words until I said it) - "The hero of my life, Father John Bethancourt, became an Orthodox priest." - - And if Father John joined this Substack, it would mean so much. Maybe suggest it - or suggest it from me? I'll gift him a subscription :)
Come to liturgy at St. John of the Ladder in Greenville!
Is this a public/ticketed talk or something private?

I just visited the Grotto during Christmas and it was delightful. Thank you for maintaining and sharing Bro. Joseph's gift.

I'm not in any groups or anything, but I hope you come to Washington DC! I'm sure you'd get an audience!
Me too, I live in Alexandria VA.
I live in NoVa and would show up!

I’m about 90 minutes from Allentown. I’d make the drive to hear Rod speak.
You should move near a monastery

Sure hope we can meet you here in Budapest ( At Great Grace International School) prior to your possible move.
Maybe, don't set up base in Louisiana.
This was my thought as well.
Rod, I just sent an email to you. Hopefully we can work something out while you are here in Greenville.
Mac Taylor
I live in Greenville SC. Are the details of your event finalized? I would love to attend.
I'm wondering the same thing. I'm near Asheville- an easy drive to Greenville and am definitely hoping to attend as well!
Me too! (Asheville area) Hoping for more details!
